Resident Camp General Information
Resident Camp meets the incredibly high standards of Girl Scouting, Michigan State Camp Licensing, and the American Camp Association. A parent resource website can be found at www.campparents.org.
Local Health Department inspections and fire safety inspections are conducted and passed each year to maintain and exceed these high standards of saftey.
Girls must have a health physical signed by a licensed medical professional to attend resident camp.
Our camp motto is: COURAGE, CONFIDENCE, CHARACTER, CAMP. Our camp motto fules our camp's culture and programming. From daily life in the cabins, to program areas, to meals in the dining hall, we believe in a girls' need to develop courage, confidence, and character in a safe and supportive environment where the freedom to make mistakes and encounter challenges when trying new things are the driving forces of learning and personal growth. We strive to promote an environment that fosters self-exploration, good decision making, problem solving, and living harmoniously. The outcomes for each child vary as distinctively as the individual, but can include increased feelings of self-worth and pride in personal accomplishments, increased ability to work as a team, mutual understanding and sharing of different cultures, and continued development of both large and fine motor skills.
Working toward the Girl Scout goal of girl-planning and decision-making, Adventure campers will have the opportunity to choose activities during the session and build their own schedules. Girls will be supervised by at least two adults at their activities and may have the freedom to walk to and from their activities with buddies.
Explorer campers are scheduled for core program areas and attend activities with their cabin group with at least two adults present at all times. Other additional activities will be scheduled for girls as time permits in their schedules.
Specialty camps focus on a specific program or skill and include horseback riding, trip and travel (canoeing, kayaking, backpacking, and bicycling), leadership, and acting programs. Specialty campers may also participate in activity areas when time permits in their schedules.
All campers can enjoy special themed events, all-camp games, evening activities, and campfires as part of our camp tradition.
More information about our resident camp programs including program descriptions, dates, and fees can be found the 2008 Summer Camp Opportunities Brochure. Online registration is available through the link at the top of this page after February 1, 2008, or you may download and print the brochure.
