TEENS ACROSS AMERICA SAID:
- Being a teen can be crazy, sometimes you may feel uncertain and other times you feel as if you could
conquer the world!
- You want a place to talk about life and real issues.
- Finding your own style is just as important as finding inner peace.
- Sometimes you need a quiet space to just be and other times you want to experiment, explore, create and discover the world.
- You are ready to leave your mark on the world, deal with real issues and dream big dreams.
STUDIO 2B IS WHAT YOU ASKED FOR!
STUDIO 2B is a brand new opportunity for teen girls to:
- Go places, try new things, and do fun stuff with old
and new friends.
- Take action in your community on a project you care
about.
- Discuss issues important to you and get advice from
people you can trust.
- Hang out in your own space, in your own way.

ACTIVITIES FOR GIRLS 11-17 IN MACOMB COUNTY
2008 by Teens, For teens Advisory Committee
We are beginning our search again for more girls ages 11-17 that are fascinating, funny, and smart who are interested in joining the By Teens, For Teens (BTFT) Advisory Committee with the Girl Scouts of Macomb County.
In other words, this committee represents YOU! This is your chance to be involved in planning programs, getting your voice heard, and taking a By Teens For Teens approach to Girl Scouting!
Look what the girls of the BTFT committee have been up to:
Ø We meet once a month, from June - May.
Ø We meet with the event director of Mall Madness and give suggestions and opinions to make it better. We also have a booth at the event to talk to you about our committee and what we do.
Ø We decide on the winner for the Mall Madness t-shirt and patch design.
Ø We have been asked our opinions and input on some questions regarding Resident Camp at Hawthorn Hollow.
Ø We are in the process of planning two workshops for the Teen Retreat in March for all participants.
Ø We will be planning another party for girls who will be recognized at the Recognition Dinner: Graduating Seniors, 10 year Girl Members, Silver Awardees, Gold Awardees, Destination Participants and Mackinaw Island Governor’s Honor Guard. (so stay tuned for more information!)
Ø Some of us will be interviewed on radio stations to promote our annual cookie sale.
Ø And we get to hang out with our new and old friends and have fun!
If this is something that you would like to get involved in, applications are now available on the website or email Jen at jludwig@girlscouts-macomb.org or call (586) 263-0220 ext. 229.

New IP's for girls ages 11-17:
In November 2004, Girl Scouts of the USA requested suggestions and feedback from membership on the current Interest Projects for Girls 11-17. Their hope was to hear from today’s Girl Scout-and they did! Girl Scouts of the USA has used the information gathered from girls, volunteers, and councils to create 10 new IPs now available for girls via the Internet and www.studio2b.org.
Lets take a closer look at the “Couch Potato” Interest Project that girls in five troops from three cities around the Fremont, California area created. They joked that since Girl Scouting is “for every girl, everywhere,” there ought to be a badge for every girl to earn. They felt there weren’t enough “fun” and “lighthearted” IPs that were also educational so they created the Couch Potato Interest Project.
Watching TV can be fun, educational activity, a way to de-stress and relax sometimes. Or it can be a very unhealthy way to pass the time. It all depends on how and what you watch. The “Couch Potato” Interest Project is a cool way to improve your TV viewing habits so your potato chip is “baked” not “fried”.
For more information on this interest project and the 9 other new ones, check out www.studio2b.org.
