IN-SCHOOL SCOUTING
This free outreach program is an effective method for our organization to reach girls who are unable to participate in Girl Scouting through traditional methods. Each school invited to participate is selected for two very basic and critical reasons: Families tied to the school are living in economic hardship, and/or “Traditional” Girl Scout troops (those led by a volunteer team of adults) are virtually nonexistent.

This program gives students in schools an opportunity to experience Scouting tailored for both girls and boys. This program offers students in grades K – 5th, with the following six educational modules: Communication, Conflict Resolution, Citizenship, Living Earth, Health & Safety and Getting to Know Me.

Questions can be directed to jludwig@girlscouts-macomb.org.

Girl Scouting In Any Language

This program is a collaboration between our council and Macomb Intermediate School District's bilingual department. The program focuses on providing girls that are learning English as a second language an opportunity to practice their language skills via a Girl Scout troop.

There is no cost to participate in this program. Each girl is provided with a handbook and a place to wear the recognition insignia that she'll earn as she explores new interests.

Questions can be directed to lsutman@girlscouts-macomb.org.

Postponing Sexual Involvement Workshops
These 3-day workshop sessions for girls (grades 4-9) and their parents/guardians are designed to help families address the pressures girls face.  Girls learn skills to resist pressures to become sexually active before they are ready.  Workshops for parents/guardians give them tools they need to help their young teens cope with the social and peer pressures that lead to early sexual involvement.

Program Aide Training
A leadership opportunity open to 6th-12th grade girls designed to enable girls to become proficient in an area of interest and to develop leadership skills by sharing their knowledge with younger girls in a troop or day camp setting.

SumMER PROGRAM
The Summer Program is available to girls 6-17 years old, who may not be able to participate in Girl Scouts in the traditional manner. This is a free six-week program that meets from 9:30-2:30, Monday-Friday in a school day camp setting.

The program offers weekly themes with related speakers, Girl Scout badge work, crafts, games, “out of neighborhood” field trips and other activities of specific interest to the girls. In addition, opportunities for leadership development, self-esteem enhancement and conflict resolution skills will be incorporated into all activities.

Questions can be directed to jludwig@girlscouts-macomb.org.
