About Girl Scouts of Macomb County

Girl Scouts of Macomb County – Otsikita Council Inc. is a non-profit, volunteer-driven organization serving the needs of girls ages 4-17 in Macomb County. With a diverse membership of over 12,000 girls and nearly 3,000 adult volunteers, Girl Scouts of Macomb County – Otsikita Council Inc. is the largest organization in the community with a commitment to girls.

While Girl Scouting has been a part of Macomb County for many years, the council was founded in 1958 when several city-councils and lone troops joined together to form one county-wide council to better serve the girls and adults.

A service center complex is located in Clinton Township, a suburb in the Metro Detroit area, where a full-time professional staff provides program resources and services for all Girl Scouts in Macomb County. There is a council shop and a training center. The council also owns and operates a 333-acre camp, Camp Hawthorn Hollow.
